Chapter 1
Inside the Maybach, Sally was being kissed so passionately by Frank that she lost herself in the moment.
Her clothes had been almost entirely removed, while Frank remained impeccably dressed. The stark contrast between their appearances made her cheeks flush.
Frank reached out, pulling her waist toward him, and whispered with a low chuckle, "The soundproofing is up, the driver can't hear, and he wouldn't dare to listen. What are you shy about, hmm?"
As she gazed at the usually aloof man becoming more intense beneath her, Sally couldn't help but hold him tighter, her heart filled with affection.
Just as the overwhelming pleasure surged toward its peak, a sudden phone ring interrupted them.
Startled by the interruption, Frank furrowed his brows, but when he saw who was calling, he still answered.
Sally, still catching her breath, glanced at the caller ID. It was his best friend, Sam.
"Frank, are you crazy..."
Frank's brow furrowed slightly, and in perfect Italian, he interrupted the rest of the sentence. "Not convenient, speak in Italian."
There was a long pause on the other end before Sam sighed deeply and replied in Italian,
"Did you really get a marriage certificate with Susan? What are you thinking? You went blind saving her, and yet she abandoned you when you were at your lowest, running off with another man. She almost killed you! And now you're getting back together with her?!"
The foreign words automatically translated into English in Sally's mind.
As she processed what was being said, a chill ran through her body, like falling into an icy pit.
Frank, however, seemed oblivious to her reaction. "If I don't marry her, the Yves family will force her to marry some old man. I can't bear to see her suffer like that."
"What about Sally? She stayed with you when you were blind. She has loved you so much over the years, she'd have given you her heart if she could. All of us, your brothers, have seen it!"
Hearing the barely concealed anger in Sam's voice, Frank remained indifferent. "I'll find a way to hide it from her. She will never know about this."
"How long can you keep it a secret? For a lifetime? Didn't Sally want to marry you?"
The more he listened, the more irritated Frank became. His tone grew sharper. "Keep the news of my marriage to Susan under wraps. Don’t tell anyone. I'll prepare a fake marriage certificate for Sally soon."
He didn't want to hear any more of Sam's complaints and hung up the phone abruptly.
When he looked down again, he tossed his phone aside and continued his intense actions with Sally.
Sally trembled uncontrollably. When they both reached their peak, she barely managed to catch her breath.
As they started to straighten their clothes, her lips parted slightly to speak.
Just then, Frank’s phone rang again.
It was a special attention alert.
Frank picked up the phone, glanced at the screen, then ordered the driver to stop.
"Sally, something urgent came up at the company. Can you get off here and take a uber home?"
She said nothing, simply nodding in silence as she opened the car door.
The black Maybach sped away like a streak of lightning.
Sally stood at the roadside, staring blankly at the busy street, her tears suddenly flooding out.
No one knew that, in order to get closer to Frank, she had long since learned Italian.
So, every word Frank and Sam had spoken, she understood perfectly.
The words echoed in her ears, like countless blades, deeply piercing her heart.
The long-buried memories, along with the shattered love, rushed to the forefront of her mind.
Frank had always been the young master of the Hall family, while she was just the daughter of a maid.
That year, she had walked into the Hall family's grand villa with her mother and had seen Frank playing the piano gracefully under the sunlight.
She had never heard such beautiful music, nor seen such a handsome young man.
Just one glance, and Frank’s name was deeply engraved in Sally's heart.
She had never told anyone that she secretly loved someone.
Not just because of the vast difference in their social status, but also because she knew Frank had someone he liked.
That someone was Susan, his childhood friend, who had grown up with him.
He never hid his feelings for her, treating her like a treasure, keeping her safe in the palm of his hand.
Even when Frank went blind saving Susan in a car accident at the age of seventeen, he never regretted it.
But after that day, Susan seemed to vanish from the world, never setting foot in the Hall family again, and even found a new boyfriend.
The Hall family had other grandchildren, and Hall’s parents, busy with their careers, had no time to care for their blind son.
Frank was left alone at the old house, isolated and abandoned.
It was Sally who voluntarily transferred back to the old house to take care of him for seven years.
At the age of twenty-three, she knelt outside the door of a famous doctor for three days and nights before finally managing to get him to treat Frank’s blindness.
The dust-covered gem was polished, and it shone once more, astonishing everyone.
In just one year, Frank had returned to the top, becoming the heir to the Hall Group.
It was her who stayed with him through winter and summer, through nights until dawn, through the hardest seven years of his life.
It was she who kissed him, embraced him, and slept with him…
But she never expected that after regaining his power, the first thing he would do was marry the woman who had abandoned him, Susan!
Over the years, she had worked so hard to keep up with him.
But no matter how she changed, Frank’s parents always thought she wasn’t good enough for their son, trying to pay her off several times.
Frank had always argued with his parents for her, and she never wanted to disappoint him, so she had never thought about leaving.
Until today.
Sally no longer wanted to stay by his side.
Wiping away her tears, she took out her phone and dialed a number.
"Mrs. Hall, I’m willing to accept the five million and leave Frank forever."
Chapter 2
On the other end of the line, Mrs. Hall was instantly ecstatic upon hearing Sally’s words.
"Have you finally made up your mind? Good, as long as you’ve thought it through.
You're just the daughter of a maid—how could you ever be worthy of my Hall family’s heir? Where are you now? Hurry up and come over. We’ll sign the contract."
As soon as she received the address, Sally couldn't help but let out a self-deprecating smile and hailed a uber.
Once she arrived at the café, Mrs. Hall asked her a series of questions.
After answering them all, Mrs. Hall finally looked satisfied. She pulled out a contract and pushed it across the table.
"Black and white, no regrets once you sign. After you sign, I'll transfer half of the money to your account, and the rest will be sent to you when you leave.
You must guarantee that once you get the money, you’ll never appear in front of Frank again. Understand?"
Sally's lashes fluttered as she gazed at the astronomical amount of compensation written in the contract.
She knew very well that she would never show up again.
In this life, and the next, she never wanted to see Frank again.
Without hesitation, she picked up the pen and swiftly signed her name.
Mrs. Hall finally relaxed, gathered the contract, and stood up. Before leaving, she gave one last reminder.
"I’m giving you two weeks. Whether you go into hiding or leave the country, it's up to you. You must make sure Frank can never find you."
"I understand, Mrs. Hall. Please rest assured."
After seeing Mrs. Hall off, Sally went home.
Making sure Frank could never find her was simple enough.
The Hall family’s ancestors had been in the military and politics, and their background was special. Three generations of the family were forbidden from going abroad.
As long as she immigrated, Frank would never be able to find her.
After flipping through relevant immigration information for most of the night, she finally decided on moving to Australia.
Once she made her decision, Sally picked up her phone to check the time, but a new notification caught her eye.
Opening it, she saw a post from Susan.
The top three photos were selfies of her holding roses, with the middle three being their marriage certificate, and the bottom three were of their hands intertwined.
Sally knew that since Frank wanted to keep their marriage a secret, he would never allow Susan to post something like this.
But she had posted it anyway, and had even set it to be visible only to Sally to flaunt it.
Sally responded with a like, as expected.
As soon as she backed out of the post, she received a message from Frank.
"Sally, I’m going on a business trip, and I won’t be back for a few days."
She replied with a simple "Okay," put down her phone, and went to freshen up.
The next day, Sally woke up early to take care of her immigration paperwork.
In a rush, she applied for expedited processing.
The staff promised her that it would be ready within two weeks, and she finally felt a sense of relief.
On the way to the car, she checked her phone again and saw Susan's new post.
This time, Frank was partially visible in the picture.
The two were holding hands and looking at a new house, and they had decided on a villa in South Water Bay.
Sally once again liked the post, just as she had the day before.
The following day, Sally handed in her resignation at work.
After packing up her things and returning home, she checked her phone again and saw that Susan had put on her wedding dress, with a sparkling diamond ring on her ring finger.
She once again clicked on the heart icon and then buried herself in the covers.
On the fourth day, after waking up from a nap, she checked her phone again and saw yet another new post.
This time, the camera was focused on a wedding photo hanging in the living room of their new home.
Sally stared at it for a long while before snapping back to reality.
As usual, she liked the post, then quickly did her makeup, ready to head out for a farewell dinner with some close friends.
In the evening, she came back home with several suitcases, throwing everything related to Frank into the trash.
All the gifts he had given her over the years, the matching toothbrushes and cups, the photos they had taken together...
Nothing was left behind. It all went straight into the garbage bin.
By the time she was done, it was already late at night.
Just as she was about to turn off the lights and rest, Frank suddenly came home.
As soon as he entered and saw the empty room, he froze, frowning deeply.
"Why are there so many things missing from here?"
"I didn’t like them anymore, so I threw them out. I’ll just buy new ones later."
Frank nodded and threw his clothes on the sofa, but his attention was soon drawn to a box nearby.
"Did you quit your job?"
He paused for a moment, then noticed something on the coffee table.
"Why did you suddenly take out the household register?"
"I was tired and wanted to take a break, so I resigned. As for the household register... there are some procedures I need to take care of."
Sally calmly explained, packing her things into her bag.
Seeing her so composed, Frank didn’t think much of it. He pulled her into his arms and spoke gently,
"I’ve been busy these past few days and haven’t had time to spend with you. Your birthday is coming up in a couple of days. How about I take you to an auction tomorrow and let you pick out a gift?"
Sally didn’t refuse.
The next day, as soon as they entered the hall and sat down, Sally saw Susan.
Susan swaggered over, sitting right next to Frank.
Throughout the entire evening, Frank only spoke to Sally, never even sparing a glance at Susan.
After the auction ended, Frank didn’t linger, taking Sally by the hand and heading downstairs.
Before heading home, Sally went to the restroom.
When she came out, she saw Susan surrounded by a group of people, being mocked openly.
"Hey, isn’t this Miss Yves from the Yves family? Didn’t you abandon Frank after everything he did for you? Now look at you, this is what you get—karma, huh?"
"I heard your father’s going to marry you off to an old man who’s half in the grave. You still have some looks left. Why don’t you come with us? We’ll definitely take good care of you..."
Before the man could finish his sentence, he was interrupted.
Frank descended the stairs, his face dark as he kicked the rowdy men away.
Chapter 3
Frank immediately pressed the leader of the group to the ground, delivering punch after punch without mercy, leaving the few men battered and bleeding, begging for mercy.
“I'm sorry, Mr. Hall! We were wrong! Please, show us some mercy!”
“Fuck off! If I ever see you in front of her again, the consequences will be on your head!”
His furious reprimand sent the men scurrying off, panicked and scrambling away.
The hallway was crowded with onlookers, but Frank ignored the curious gazes and helped Susan to her feet. "Are you hurt?"
Susan, teary-eyed, collapsed into his arms, crying like a little girl. “My ankle... it hurts so much.”
Frank's expression darkened. Without a word, he lifted her into his arms, pushing through the crowd and heading out quickly.
In his haste to shield her, his elbow accidentally knocked into Sally, sending her crashing to the floor. Her head hit the hard steps with a sickening thud, blood gushing from the wound, startling the onlookers.
"You're bleeding! Quick, call an ambulance!"
Sally's face contorted in pain as cold sweat poured down her body.
Warm blood oozed from her fingers and dripped onto her lashes, feeling heavy, almost suffocating.
She watched as Frank left without sparing a glance back, and the bitterness in her heart deepened.
Once, when she’d cut her finger while making soup for him, he had been so distressed that he insisted on calling a doctor, afraid the scar would remain.
Now, as she bled, he didn't even look back.
And the ring he had promised her? It was now on someone else's finger.
The ambulance took Sally to the hospital.
She went through registration, saw the doctor, and picked up her medication, returning home late into the night.
That night, the pain kept her awake. She tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
Frank didn’t come home.
The next morning, her body exhausted, she got up to change the dressing and saw a new post from Susan.
It was a video of Frank kneeling at Susan's feet, rubbing her ankle and applying medication.
Sally watched it several times, her eyes reddening. Without realizing it, she fell asleep again.
When she woke up, it was already dark outside.
Her phone next to the pillow was vibrating non-stop. She picked up the call and heard Frank’s voice on the other end, “Riverside Cottage, Room 703. Come over now.”
Sally hesitated for a moment before getting up.
She washed up quickly and headed over.
As soon as she opened the door to the private room, her eyes immediately landed on Susan.
Her eyes were red, her face a picture of innocence, looking as though she had been wronged, a poor little bunny.
Frank stared at her silently, his face serious, a quiet weight hanging in the air.
The room fell silent for a long time before Sally couldn’t hold back any longer.
“You called me here. What’s going on?”
Frank straightened in his chair, folding his hands in front of him, adopting the posture of someone in control.
"Sally, yesterday—those thugs—did you hire them to purposely trouble her?"
Sally froze.
She instinctively glanced at Susan and caught a fleeting look of triumph in her eyes.
In that moment, everything clicked. This whole incident had likely been masterminded by Susan.
Sally let out a self-deprecating smile. “It wasn’t me. I don’t know them, and I have no interest in doing something like that.”
Frank’s expression didn’t soften in the slightest after her explanation.
He lowered his gaze, his voice calm,
“Sally, the moment Susan chose to abandon me, I completely let her go. You’ve been with me for seven years, so you should know who occupies my heart now.
The Yves family has fallen, anyone can step on them, but it shouldn’t be you. You don’t need to make things difficult for her because of me.”
Sally’s heart jolted painfully at those words.
She couldn’t help but recall the nights when he had vented his despair, the times she had been by his side, rushing around to find doctors when he had been misdiagnosed and told he would never see again.
He, the proud son of heaven, had lost his eyesight completely because of a girl.
But all those days and nights of helplessness, the seven long years—he now brushed it all off as if it had never happened.
Finally, her mind turned to the marriage certificate with the official seal, the one he had signed with Susan. Tears welled up in her eyes. "Yeah, seven years together... and it’s only now I realize who truly holds your heart."
Frank’s eyes narrowed slightly. “What do you mean by that?”
Sally shook her head, a bitter smile tugging at her lips. "I mean... I’m just a maid’s daughter. What ability or connections do I have to hire people to humiliate a young lady like her?"
Despite her clear, honest words, Frank still didn’t believe her.
Sally was tired. She took a deep breath and gave up on further explanation.
“Since you don’t believe me, just say it straight. What do you want me to do?”
Frank pressed his fingers to his temples, looking weary. “Apologize. Sally, when you’ve done something wrong, you should say sorry.”
At this moment, Susan, who had been playing the part of the poor, wronged girl for so long, suddenly spoke up.
“Forget about the apology. If you really feel sorry, just drink this wine and it’ll be enough.”
