Love Withdrawn

Chapter 1

"You want to marry Robert's brother? That disabled man? Weren't you..."

Father looked at me with utter confusion.

After all, I had desperately pursued Robert for four whole years.

To marry him, I had brought shame upon the entire Smith family.

The latest news about his brother, Roland, was from four years ago.

He loved extreme sports and broke his leg during a high-altitude challenge.

Since then, he had been receiving treatment abroad, refusing to see anyone -- even his parents rarely got to meet him.

I smiled faintly and replied calmly, "Robert and Eva are in love. As her sister, I should help them be together."

Father didn't ask further questions, secretly breathing a sigh of relief.

I knew Father had always favored his illegitimate daughter Eva more. In my previous life, he had schemed behind my back to separate me from Robert.

Only when I threatened to die did he finally allow me to marry him.

After the marriage arrangement was settled, I went to the jewelry store to pick up the wedding rings I had custom-ordered for the ceremony.

I had designed the rings myself, engraved with our initials: C & R.

Unexpectedly, I ran into that troublemaker Robert even here.

He glared at me with contempt, "Cindy, you crazy woman, when will you stop? Are you actually stalking me?"

Before I could deny it, his friends behind him began their merciless mockery.

"Cindy, you've been simping for him for so many years, what's there to deny?"

"Yeah, we won't laugh at you. After all, your jokes are endless, updated daily -- we can never finish laughing at them all, haha!"

"Hey, show some respect. You should call her sister-in-law now. Who knows what tricks she used, but she's engaged to your family -- it's all over B city."

Hearing this, Robert's face darkened further as he stared at me like an enemy, "Cindy, you're truly vicious. You know I love Eva, yet you still try to break us apart."

"Let me tell you this -- even if I marry you, you'll never have me. My body and heart belong only to Eva."

Having returned from the future two months ago, with the experience of my previous life, their humiliation could no longer stir any unusual emotions in me.

I calmly swept my gaze over them, fixing it on Robert, "Don't worry, I don't want to touch you either. You're not the one I'm marrying."

They acted as if they'd heard the joke of the century, laughing even more wildly.

"Five years ago, you fled to Thailand for a whole year to avoid the marriage alliance with my family. Then you returned to B city, saw Rob once, and fell madly in love with him."

"You even publicly declared your love and insisted on marrying him."

"Now you're saying you don't want anything to do with our Brother Rob? Who would believe that?"

I couldn't deny it. Back then, this dramatic turnaround had indeed made me the biggest laughingstock among B city's upper class.

They even gave me a nickname, "Cindy - The Humiliated Simp."

I was tired of explaining myself to them - they wouldn't believe anything I said anyway.

Just then, the store clerk brought out my custom wedding rings.

Robert reached out and picked up the men's wedding ring, holding it up to the light to admire it, "Cindy, I heard you designed these rings yourself. The style isn't bad, but your effort was wasted - I really, really don't like them."

I coldly stared at him, "Who asked you to like them? They're not for you. Give them back!"

I reached for the rings, but he held them up high, out of my reach.

One of his sharp-eyed friends noticed the engraving inside and mocked me even more ruthlessly, "Cindy, stop pretending to be reserved. It's engraved with 'C & R' inside - obviously meaning Cindy and Robert!"

Everyone burst into laughter, eager to see me humiliated.

I quickly snatched back the rings, carefully polishing them with velvet cloth over and over.

Robert sneered, "Give up, Cindy. I won't wear these rings, and I won't attend the wedding. I don't want Eva to hurt herself again by cutting her wrists over our marriage."

My hands froze mid-polish, stunned for a moment.

In my previous life, Eva had attempted suicide by cutting her wrists at home when Robert and I held our wedding.

Chapter 2

If the housekeeper hadn't found her in time, she might have died that day.

I frowned - could Robert have been reborn too?!

Just as I tried to search his expression for more clues, Eva suddenly appeared before us.

Her lips quivered, eyes red-rimmed, voice choked with tears, as if she'd suffered some terrible injustice.

"Robert, everyone's saying you're engaged to Cindy. Is it true?"

"You promised you wouldn't marry her! You big meanie, you liar!"

She spoke while tears streamed down her face, making Robert's heart ache.

He rushed forward to embrace her, kissing and comforting her right there in public.

"My darling, I swear to heaven, I love you and only you. After we get through the wedding to satisfy our parents, I'll take her to file for divorce the very next day, okay?"

"I was worried about upsetting you, that's why I came early to pick out an apology gift."

"Sweetheart, please smile. Look at all this jewelry - pick whatever you like. Please don't cry anymore, okay?"

Hearing these words, Eva finally broke into a smile. She leaned delicately against Robert, staring directly at me, "Sister, you know Rob loves me. I really don't understand why you insist on marrying him. Aren't you just embarrassing yourself?"

His friends glanced at me maliciously, ready to enjoy the show of sisters fighting over a man.

In the past, I would have furiously pulled them apart.

Warned Eva to stay away from Robert.

What no one knew was that I had my own secret and unfulfilled wish.

I didn't really love Robert that much, but I had desperately demanded to be the only one in his heart and eyes.

Only because I had wrongly believed that Robert carried the shadow of the man I once loved most.

It wasn't until my deathbed in my previous life that I realized - the person I had been searching for, the one I wanted to love, was never Robert at all.

I focused on examining and admiring the wedding rings, making sure they met my standards, not sparing them a single glance.

Robert's friends exchanged awkward looks, and seeing no reaction from me, they uncomfortably turned their gazes to him.

"Rob, did Cindy take the wrong medicine today? Why isn't she making a scene?"

Robert narrowed his eyes, a flash of gloom crossing his face before he sneered dismissively, "Smart of you to know your place. I don't have time for you today anyway."

I couldn't understand what Robert was thinking, ordering a pair of wedding rings right in front of me.

Wedding rings exclusively for him and Eva.

After confirming the rings had no flaws or defects, I carefully placed them in the jewelry box and prepared to leave.

But Robert blocked my way, ordering, "Eva wants to go to the hot springs. She's delicate, and I'm worried about her going alone. You go with her - I'll wait for you both at the entrance."

I instinctively refused, "Why should I?!"

He snatched the jewelry box from my hands and taunted, "I knew you were jealous. Acting all calm and collected, but you're burning with jealousy inside, aren't you?"

"Take Eva to the hot springs and look after her. When you come back, I might return this piece of junk to you."

"But don't expect me to wear them. If I wear any rings, they'll be the matching set with Eva."

My fingers involuntarily clenched into a fist - I really wanted to throw a right hook and knock what little sense he had out of his head.

Just then, Eva's coquettish voice came from behind, "Brother Rob, I've made my choice."

Robert tossed the jewelry box in the air and caught it smoothly, heading to the cashier without any worry that I might leave.

The two of them whispered and giggled together.

Their giggles suddenly turned into a passionate kiss.

The store clerks were so shocked they kept doing double-takes.

When my eyes met Robert's, I felt so nauseated I immediately turned away, keeping my back to them until they finally pulled apart, breathless and reluctant.

Even though I hadn't interrupted their moment, Robert's eyes were like daggers when he looked at me.

As if he wanted to cut me into pieces.

Chapter 3

I rolled my eyes at him. What a piece of work.

I was forced to follow them to Robert's car and then to the natural hot springs.

Eva, wrapped in a towel and soaking in the pool, beckoned to me like she was calling a dog, "Sister, my feet are so sore. Would you massage them for me?"

Seeing that I remained still in the water, a flash of malice crossed Eva's eyes, "Sister probably doesn't know, but in your previous life, you actually lowered yourself to massage my feet for a whole week just to make sure Rob would show up at your wedding on time."

I snapped my head up, completely shocked.

So Eva had been reborn too...

Perhaps because in my previous life, after I married Robert, I didn't do anything when they spent time together every day. That's why they dare to be so unrestrained in front of me this time.

Moreover, since I married into Robert’s family, everyone except Robert treated me with utmost respect and courtesy, cherishing me like an ancestor. I only understood the reason behind his family's attitude toward me at the moment of my death.

Eva's angry shout pulled me back to reality.

Of course, I didn't comply with Eva's demands and instead gave her a harsh scolding. I would never marry Robert in this lifetime, so naturally, her threats held no power over me.

After the hot spring, Eva went crying to Robert, claiming I had bullied her.

Robert's face showed obvious satisfaction, "Little darling, don't argue with her. She's just jealous that you have my love, while she's nothing but a despicable creature that everyone despises."

Eva's eyes were red but smiling as she threw herself into his arms. The next moment, they were passionately kissing.

I turned away, but couldn't block out their intimate sounds.

They both thought I had forced our families to arrange my marriage with Robert, so they were flaunting their love in front of me as revenge.

Robert, unable to control himself, directly lifted the delicate Eva in his arms and strode toward his Maybach.

I anxiously called out, "Robert, give me back my wedding ring!"

He turned his head with a playful smile, seemingly intentionally provoking me, "Wait outside obediently."

He hurriedly got into the car, and soon, along with the continuous shaking of the vehicle, Eva's pleasured moans could be heard from inside.

My face flushed with anger. If it weren't for getting my wedding ring back, I wouldn't have spared these two dogs another glance.

After my feet ached from standing in high heels, Robert finally poked his head out of the car window with a satisfied expression, "Get in, I'll drive you both home!"

My stomach churned, and I nearly threw up.

Seeing my troubled expression and reluctance to approach, Robert threatened, "Don't want your worthless wedding ring anymore, huh?!"

My fists clenched and unclenched repeatedly before I finally forced myself to get in the car.

A musky odor hit me as I entered, making me wrinkle my nose in disgust.

My expression of revulsion appeared to them as frustration over unrequited love.

Eva pressed her chest against Robert again and taunted, "Sister, don't force yourself to fight for something that isn't yours. Keep fighting, and in the end, you'll only hurt yourself."

Robert was in high spirits, humming a tune as he drove out of the underground parking lot.

Along the way, the two kept laughing and flirting, looking exactly like newlyweds deep in love.

He dropped Eva off at my father's villa, then drove me to my newly purchased apartment.

After getting out, I reached out and demanded my wedding ring.

"Give me back my wedding ring!"

Robert looked at me playfully, "Cindy, I know you're heartbroken, but there's nothing I can do. Eva is the only one I love."

"If you hadn't avoided our arranged marriage and disappeared for a year, making me lose face, I might have reluctantly taken you as a concubine, considering your decent looks."

Robert played with my jewelry box carelessly and continued, "But it's too late now. No matter how devoted you are to me, I won't spare you a glance. In fact, I find you quite cheap."

He casually tossed the jewelry box to me, along with a golden Buddha pendant.

In a patronizing tone, he added, "Consider this your engagement gift. Go back and make up some excuse to cancel the engagement ceremony."
