Chapter 1
After a fierce battle, I was alone, quietly tending to my wounds.
Suddenly, laughter echoed nearby.
It was the soldiers teasing my husband, Alpha William.
"Alpha, last night, Lucy's screams were echoing all over the barracks.
What time are you planning to make love and have sex today?" one of them joked.
"There were no other women on the battlefield, I was just venting with her."
William's voice carried a casual charm, mixed with amusement.
"She's waiting for me over in the woods right now. By the way, it's fine for you guys to joke around, but don't let Luna find out, okay?"
The soldiers laughed and promised to keep quiet.
"I'm going to have a word with your Luna, so keep your distance and don't interrupt me," William said, waving them off with a smile.
His gentle tone and relaxed demeanor would make anyone believe he was a devoted husband.
No one would guess that just yesterday, he had crawled out of his lover's bed.
The soldiers walked away, muttering to each other.
"I envy our Alpha," one said. "He has such a beautiful and virtuous wife at home, and a flirtatious , sexy and hot lover outside."
"Yeah," another agreed. "Tonight, Alpha would be in Linda's room all night again."
I froze. My hands trembled, and my breath hitched.
Before I could fully process their words, William's voice rang in my head through our mind link.
"Honey, I haven't seen you in so long during this war. I miss you terribly and can't wait to hold you in my arms. The war is almost over, and when I get home, you won't leave my side for three days and three nights."
His sweet words felt like daggers.
My hands and feet turned icy as I struggled to reply. But how could I?
He didn't know the truth.
A year ago, vampires invaded our pack's territory.
William, being the Alpha, immediately fought back with his warriors.
When this war began, I was so afraid he'd be injured or left untreated that I secretly joined the army, working as a healer and staying close to him through every battle.
He didn't know that while he was asking the soldiers to keep his affair with Lucy a secret, I already knew everything.
The first time he slept with her, I didn't sleep at all.
The bond in my stomach twisted painfully as they enjoyed their night.
"Honey, are you asleep? I'll see you tomorrow then," William said, breaking the silence when I didn't respond.
After a few moments, he ended the connection, assuming I had already gone to bed.
Without hesitation, I watched him disappear into the woods, his steps light and eager.
I took a deep breath and steadied my trembling fingers before dialing another number.
When the line connected, a low, rich voice greeted me.
"Why did you reach out to me all of a sudden, have you finally figured it out?"
"After this war with the vampires is over, I promise to come with you, back to your pack." I said firmly, my voice barely above a whisper.
The voice on the other end replied with warmth and reassurance.
"Good. I'll personally welcome you to my pack after this war ends. Just three days from now."
Chapter 2
After the call, I followed William's trail.
His scent was unmistakable, leading me through the dense forest.
It didn't take long before I heard low, sultry voices nearby.
"Alpha… you're incredible. I've missed you so much these past few days."
My sharp vision caught sight of them immediately.
William had Lucy pinned to the ground, their bodies tangled as if they couldn't bear to be apart.
Clothes lay scattered around them, and their passion knew no restraint.
This forest often had warriors patrolling, yet they showed no fear of being caught.
They knew the soldiers were covering for them, deceiving me—Luna—without hesitation.
But none of them expected me to be here.
I stood frozen, hidden among the trees, watching their betrayal unfold.
My wolf, Lena, pleaded for me to turn away, to spare myself the pain.
But I couldn't. I needed to see it. Every agonizing detail.
The bond between us, the connection that once brought comfort, now felt like it was being ripped apart.
Yet I stood firm, refusing to let go of the truth.
This was the man who had sworn his love and loyalty to me.
Lucy had only joined the military six months ago.
Trained as an agent from a young age, she has excellent camouflage skills, which has led to her being sent to infiltrate the team of vampires invading the territory.
But her identity was exposed, and she returned—broken and drugged.
"Alpha, save me…"
I remembered that day vividly. Her flushed cheeks and tearful eyes had made her look so helpless as she leaned into William's arms, rubbing against him like a desperate kitten.
William didn't hesitate. He scooped her up and carried her straight to his quarters.
For three days and nights, the sounds of their passion filled the air while the photo of us—the one on his nightstand..lay shattered on the floor.
When he finally emerged, he looked satisfied, while Lucy hid shyly behind him.
Yet his arm possessively held her close, as if marking her as his.
From then on, Lucy became his constant companion.
During the day, they fought side by side. At night, they became lovers.
Their passion often stretched into the early hours, with Lucy's cries echoing through the barracks.
Even then, I had forced myself to ignore it.
One morning, Lucy clung to William in the bathroom.
"Stay with me today," she pleaded, her voice soft and sweet. "We've been through so much. Can't you rest here with me, just this once?"
William pushed her away without hesitation.
"No. I'm going home to my Luna today. She has a sharp nose, and I don't want her smelling another woman on me."
Lucy's face fell. Tears welled up in her eyes as she protested, "What does she have that I don't? Haven't I been by your side through every battle? Or do I not please you as well as she does?"
William grabbed her chin, his touch rough but his tone cutting.
"Don't get ahead of yourself," he said coldly. "You're nothing compared to my Luna. You're just a way to satisfy my needs during this war. When it's over, I might keep you around, but that's all."
Lucy's tears fell freely, but William didn't spare her another glance.
Instead, he disappeared into the bathroom, scrubbing away her scent.
By the time he returned to our cabin, I was reviewing a medical report.
He tried to wrap his arms around me, but I stepped away.
"Caitlin?" he asked, startled. He sniffed himself and added quickly, "Oh, I must have brushed against someone wearing perfume earlier. Don't worry about it."
It was a pathetic lie.
As his mate, I knew his scent better than anyone. No matter how much cologne he used, I could still smell her on him.
But he didn't notice my silence.
Instead, he pulled me close again, his hands wandering.
"My beautiful Luna, it's been too long. When are we going to have a pup?"
I froze. His words hit me like a slap.
I shoved him away and bolted to the bathroom, my stomach churning as I dry-heaved into the sink.
A baby.
The report I'd been holding earlier had confirmed it—I was four weeks pregnant.
The child we had waited three years for had finally come.
But now, all I could feel was heartbreak.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, bitter laughter bubbling up in my throat.
This was supposed to be a moment of joy. Instead, it felt like a cruel joke.
Chapter 3
I stepped out of the bathroom with a relaxed expression and asked casually, "When do you head back to the border battlefield?"
"Just three days from now. There's a big mission coming up," he replied.
His eyes were filled with guilt. "Honey, that day is our wedding anniversary. I'm so sorry I can't be here with you. I know I've let you down so many times."
Three days later—it just happened to be the same day I planned to leave.
I rested my hand on my still-flat stomach and smiled faintly. "It's okay. Just try to come home early. I have a surprise for you."
William smiled warmly and touched my cheek. "I promise I'll come straight home as soon as the battle is over."
I turned my face slightly to the side to hide the coldness in my eyes.
I hoped that by then, he really would be surprised.
Early the next morning, William got a phone call.
After hanging up, he said, "Honey, there's a presentation at the army camp today, and Luna is required to attend. Come with me."
I nodded and followed him to the base.
Normally, as a healer, my identity was kept secret, so no one really knew what I looked like.
That's why no one recognized me when I arrived.
As we stepped inside, I overheard some soldiers talking.
"Where's the healer? She vanished as soon as we went on leave, not even a single message."
"What can you do? She's powerful. So many soldiers rely on her to stay alive. It's no wonder she keeps to herself."
"Did you hear? She joined the army because she has a crush on our Alpha."
"No way. The Alpha already has Luna. Besides, he has someone else in the camp too…"
"Shhh, stop talking. Luna's here today."
I acted like I didn't hear them, keeping my face calm.
They weren't wrong. I had chosen the front lines without hesitation because I was afraid for William's safety.
Over the years, I worked day and night to heal wounded soldiers and even stayed up late handling Luna's paperwork.
There were times when I pushed myself so hard I almost collapsed.
And while I was working myself to exhaustion, William was secretly with Lucy.
Thinking about it, I couldn't help but give a bitter smile.
William, with his sharp Alpha hearing, must have heard their whispers.
He glanced at me nervously. When he saw I didn't react, he seemed a bit relieved.
Raising his voice, he cut off their chatter.
"What are you all standing around for? Luna is here. Show her some respect."
The soldiers fell silent as we entered. Their eyes were distant, even cold, as they looked at me. None of them spoke first.
It was clear they liked Lucy more than me—a Luna who had never been to war.
At that moment, a sweet voice rang out.
"Sister Caitlin, do you still remember me?"
Lucy walked over, smiling.
She wore a fitted military uniform, but the neckline was left wide open, showing off her curves and the faint marks on her neck.
Our eyes met, and hers sparkled with smugness and challenge.
Lucy pretended to be shy and said, "Oh, I'm so sorry you had to see this. My love was just too much last night…"
I turned to William. "Is this how you enforce discipline here?"
William froze, then snapped at Lucy. "Button up your uniform and get out of here!"
Lucy hesitated for a second, then ran off in tears.
The presentation began, and the leaders started giving their speeches.
Not long after, William received a message. He suddenly stiffened and stood up.
Noticing my questioning look, he quickly calmed himself and said, "Honey, I just got an urgent message. I have to handle it right away. Stay here and let me know later if anything important comes up."
He left the room In a hurry.
Moments later, I received a psychic message.
"Come to the Alpha's bedroom on the second floor. I bet my body is more suited for him than yours."
A challenge?
I narrowed my eyes but didn't move right away.
Outside the room, I overheard whispers. "The Alpha's really bold, leaving Luna here and running off to see his lover."
I smirked.
As a healer, I knew this place like the back of my hand.
Instead of heading to his room, I made my way to the surveillance room and pulled up the camera feed focused on William's quarters.
